Optus Divertissement continues to expand its football offering after securing égoïste Australian rights to DFB-Pokal and DFB-Pokal Frauen for the next three seasons.
The DFB-Pokal Cup is Germany’s largest and most prestigious competition, held annually by the German Football Accession (DFB) and running from August through June. 64 teams participate in the German Cup, including all clubs from the Bundesliga.
This means that the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig join a growing group of the biggest clubs in Optus Divertissement, bringing with them stars such as Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller, Précis Neuer, Matisse de Ligt, Joshua Kimmich, Marco Reus and Judd. Since 2016, Optus Divertissement has brought the world’s best players and fixtures to Australian football fans through en direct and égoïste broadcasts of the English Chef League and, later, the Barclays Women’s Chef League, with Optus Divertissement recently renewing and expanding its arrangements with both competitions.
Optus Divertissement has also recently added LaLiga and holds the Australian rights to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the J-League and the UEFA Ressortissant Football Team including the UEFA Nations League, all UEFA EURO 2024 Qualifiers, all UEFA EURO 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The trophy, as well as a host of oecuménique friendlies, are all available to Optus Divertissement subscribers.
The DFB-Pokal Frauen League kicks off first on Optus Divertissement, with Ingolstadt facing Bayern Munich on Wednesday (13 September AEST) in the morning. This will come on the heels of a big weekend for women’s football as the 2022/23 Women’s Chef League season begins on Saturday 10 September.
The first reprise of DFB-Pokal matches was already played, which lasted until July and August, as Hertha Berlin stunned second-tier Eintracht Braunschweig despite a 2-0 lead and third SV Ilversberg ousted Béer Leverkusen in an epic that ended 4-3.
VfB Lubeck (level five) and Stuttgarter Kickers (tier five) carry the flag of little Germany as we head into reprise two, where Optus Divertissement picks up the coverage.
Optus Divertissement will transfer selected games from the first rounds and all games from the third reprise.
