When a woman was attacked by dogs in Yeniceköy neighborhood and she was hospitalized, Saadet Party District Chairman Hasan Eroğlu issued a statement and called for immediate action on the dog issue wanderers.
The issue of ‘stray dogs’, which was put on the agenda by party organization Felicity İnegöl last month and called for a study, came back to the fore after dogs attacked a woman in the Yeniceköy district and sent her to the hospital. Making a statement on this, Hasan Eroğlu said that the importance of their call has not been sufficiently understood and said, “We would like to thank our officials who have contributed to activities such as vaccination, sterilization and sheltered so far. We know the sensitivity of Mayor Alper Taban on stray animals, but a more in-depth study is needed concerning this situation, which has now become problematic. Otherwise, negative and bitter news will continue to come. Local administrators have a related problem,” he said.
Eroğlu’s explanation is as follows;
BAD NEWS FROM THE COUNTRY
“Following the negative news coming from all over the country and citizens of İnegöl who have put the issue on the agenda through various channels, we launched an appeal last month by our local government mayor to find a solution to the problem of ‘stray dogs’. In the interval of about a month and a half, news of stray dog attacks came from various provinces of our country. First, our daughter from Mahra Melin Primary School in Antalya lost her leg when she got hit by a truck while escaping from the dogs. Again, news of dog attacks in several of our provinces was reported and we followed up.
CITIZENS ARE HAPPY IN THE REGION WHERE THE EVENT HAPPENED
“Last night scary news came from Yeniceköy district to our İnegöl at midnight. A lady hospitalized our sister after being attacked by stray dogs. The news from the local press increased our level of unease and sadness, like the previous ones. Citizens we contacted in the area where the incident occurred told us about their problems with stray dogs. I wish a speedy recovery to our injured brother from Allah.
THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR CALL IS NOT UNDERSTOOD MANAGERS HAVE PLACES
“The importance of our call on the subject will not be sufficiently understood that no in-depth study has been made on the problem of stray dogs. Does a citizen or a child have to die for a study to be carried out? He says danger is coming and the blame lies squarely with the town leaders. We cannot solve the problem of citizens by ignoring them. Our concern is our love for people and animals. We would also like to thank our municipality and the authorities for the many activities such as sterilization, vaccination reception, feeding. Hoping that our local administrators will hear and be more responsive to the concerns and fears of our citizens, I once again leave the statement of our President of the Felicity Party of Local Government, Ahmet Ceyhan, to the discretion of the public and our administrators .
Ahmet Ceyhan’s statement on this subject made on 8.02.2022 is as follows;
ANIMALS ARE GOD’S INSCRIPTION TO US
“Dear fellow citizens. The common complaint of almost every neighborhood in İnegöl recently has been stray dogs. Of course, I guess the negative news on the subject from all over the country further increased the complaints. Because citizens are aware of the danger ahead. It seems that the problems caused by stray dogs on the streets for many years continue to increase, but first of all I want to emphasize that the issue is very sensitive. All stray animals are entrusted to us by Allah (CC), and torturing them does not fall within the morality of Islam or the conscience of humanity. The point we want to put on the agenda here is to minimize the damage that can occur due to the nature of our animals. Our problem is not hostility towards animals, we oppose anyone with such a tendency.
OUR CITIZENS ARE RIGHT TO CONCERN
“One of the main problems that our citizens of İnegöl passed on to us about this was dogs attacking children. Our citizens report that many stray dogs attack or tend to attack children in parks and on paths In complaints from neighborhoods a little further from the center such as Ahhisar, Mesudiye and Alanyurt, it was reported that even citizens waiting at bus stops had been bitten by stray dogs. could not send their children to the park or school alone because of this problem. Negative news has come to the fore from many provinces and districts in our country recently. Therefore, our people have reason to be concerned at both for their children and for themselves. Even the event
After these events, President Erdogan challenged the mayors and told them: “Solve the problem of stray dogs. He put the issue on the agenda, saying: “Their place is not in the streets, but in warm shelters.
A TOPIC OF INTEREST TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
“We know that the greatest influence and sanction over stray animals belongs to local governments. Local governments have obligations such as sterilization, rabies vaccination, anti-parasitic vaccination and rehabilitation of these animals. Again, the “ownership” resides in the most effective solution process of our municipalities. Although there are criticisms about sterilization, it is considered the most effective method of control to prevent the population, and this process is applied in the same way all over the world. Because the animal in nature doesn’t think “I shouldn’t reproduce” and increases its numbers by constantly reproducing. “
DATA MUST BE SHARED! THE FIGHT MUST BE TOGETHER AND RESULTS-BASED
“We know that İnegöl Municipality and Mayor Alper Taban are sensitive to this issue, creating catering points and trying to provide services with his team in the stray animal shelter, and we thank him for his sensitive behavior. The point we want to draw attention to here is to act together and more result-oriented to the point of solving the problem. If our shelter is not enough, we can build a new one, speed up the adoption process by explaining it to our citizens, rehabilitate aggressive dogs and make the vaccination and sterilization processes more aware and faster. We can also evaluate other suggestions from NGOs, political parties, public institutions and animal lovers. İnegöl Municipality should also share the data it has on this issue with the public. How many stray dogs are there in İnegöl, how many vaccinations and sterilizations have been carried out, how many dogs have been adopted… What is our position as a district in the fight against stray dogs?
WE MUST ACCEPT THE PROBLEM EXISTS.
“First of all, we should start by accepting the existence of this problem by not seeing dog biting as normal. If the presence of a stray dog on the street; If he disturbs the peace of society and individuals, poses serious dangers to public health, compromises road safety, prevents children from going to the park, prevents citizens from walking, children from running, from cycling, if they attack and growl, if they hurt people, then that situation has become a problem.”
A COMMON TABLE SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED, EVERYONE SHOULD KEEP HANDS
“Then we have to start the fight to minimize the problem. In this regard, a common table should be established where city administrators, relevant institutions, NGOs and animal lovers will be involved. Because only municipalities can solve the problem of stray animals. Everyone should put their hand under the stone. We, as the Felicity Party, would like to declare that we will support all kinds of activities that will relieve our citizens without harming our dear friends. “
